In this research, we concentrate upon rhythmical movements because of its relevance on the field of dance. We tried to find measurable factors related to the difference of rhythmical movement between Japanese people and foreigners, focusing on physical factors. Isolation is one of these factors, that is the independency of body movements. To measure isolation, we used image processing, by tracking feature points of dancing body. We chose their familiarity with isolation. As a result we found that isolation is clearly recognized from the data, and that there are big differences of isolation in both subjects. Isolation can be expressed by the phase difference among rhythmical movements, such as horizontal transition and changes of body inclination. We believe that isolation characteristic has a big role for classifying rhythmical movements of people from different countries. We also believe that it can be used to recognize autochthonous patterns that we denominate likeness, such as Japanese-likeness. At present, there are no researches oriented to classify rhythmical movement using quantitative data and we think our research may be helpful for future researched on the field.
